One of the key learning outcomes of the module is to familiarise students with good practice in research. So, we spend a number of weeks thinking about the ethical questions involved in research in various different exercises. Students go through the internal Law School ethics process for all Undergrad research. Strict limits are set on who the students can interview, and how they can use this research. They are only allowed to interview academics about areas of their own research. There are full study information sheets and consent forms. Where students use prior recorded public material, they must secure the rights and permissions from the rights-holder. They can only use music and sound effects with a creative commons license, unless they have consent from the rights-holder. Students acknowledge these rights and permissions in the sleeve notes of each of the podcasts.
